Our storY

Martinsburg’s action sports community has been pushin’ thru the panhandle for decades through DIY spots, famous street locations, and road trips to parks in neighboring towns. But since the city’s last public skatepark closed in 2013, local skaters, BMX riders, and scooter kids have been without a true home.

We’re working to change that.

Across the country, more than 17 million people participate in action sports, and for good reason: skateboarding builds confidence, resilience, creativity, and a deep sense of belonging. A public skatepark isn’t just concrete; it’s a community hub where people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels support one another. It’s one of the rare spaces where differences fade, and passion brings people together. At a time when young people face rising anxiety, shrinking access to outdoor rec, and growing barriers to physical activity, Martinsburg deserves a safe, accessible place for unstructured, healthy recreation. Skateparks offer exactly that: a positive outlet, a welcoming community, and a space where kids can grow into confident, capable adults.

Action sports have been part of Martinsburg’s DNA for more than 30 years. Now, we have the chance to build something lasting that gives today's youth the same sense of belonging that shaped generations before them.

We’re rallying the community to build a public skatepark in Martinsburg, because every kid deserves a place to roll, create, and belong.
